{"id":19004,"date":"2026-10-10T16:16:40","date_gmt":"2026-10-10T16:16:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesusdidsay.com\/?page_id=19004"},"modified":"2026-10-10T16:34:25","modified_gmt":"2026-10-10T16:34:25","slug":"matthew-20-the-parable-of-the-workers-in-the-vineyard","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jesusdidsay.com\/?page_id=19004","title":{"rendered":"Matthew Chapter 20 The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span id=\"en-NIV-23794\" class=\"text Matt-20-1\">The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"chapter-2\"><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><span class=\"text Matt-20-1\"><span class=\"chapternum\">20<\/span><span class=\"woj\">For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-23795\" class=\"text Matt-20-2\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2<\/sup>He agreed to pay them a denariusfor the day and sent them into his vineyard.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><span id=\"en-NIV-23796\" class=\"text Matt-20-3\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3<\/sup>About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-23797\" class=\"text Matt-20-4\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4<\/sup>He told them, You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-23798\" class=\"text Matt-20-5\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5<\/sup>So they went.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><span class=\"text Matt-20-5\"><span class=\"woj\">He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-23799\" class=\"text Matt-20-6\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6<\/sup>About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-23800\" class=\"text Matt-20-7\" style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7<\/sup>Because no one has hired us, they answered.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Matt-20-7\" style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><span class=\"woj\">He said to them, You also go and work in my vineyard.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-23801\" class=\"text Matt-20-8\" style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8<\/sup>When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><span id=\"en-NIV-23802\" class=\"text Matt-20-9\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9<\/sup>The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-23803\" class=\"text Matt-20-10\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10<\/sup>So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-23804\" class=\"text Matt-20-11\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11<\/sup>When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-23805\" class=\"text Matt-20-12\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12<\/sup>These who were hired last worked only one hour, they said, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><span id=\"en-NIV-23806\" class=\"text Matt-20-13\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13<\/sup>But he answered one of them, I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didnt you agree to work for a denarius?<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-23807\" class=\"text Matt-20-14\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14<\/sup>Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-23808\" class=\"text Matt-20-15\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15<\/sup>Dont I have the right to do what I want with my own money?
