{"id":9944,"date":"2024-08-29T07:57:10","date_gmt":"2024-08-29T11:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesusdidsay.com\/?page_id=9944"},"modified":"2026-10-07T11:27:16","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T11:27:16","slug":"mark-chapter-4-the-parable-of-the-sower","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jesusdidsay.com\/?page_id=9944","title":{"rendered":"Mark Chapter 4 The Parable of the Sower"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4\u00a0<\/strong>Again Jesus began to teach by the lake.\u00a0The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water\u2019s edge.\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>He taught them many things by parables,\u00a0and in his teaching said:\u00a0<sup>3<\/sup><mark style=\\\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\\\" class=\\\"has-inline-color\\\"><sup>\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cListen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.\u00a0<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain.\u00a0<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.\u201d<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus said,\u00a0<mark style=\\\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\\\" class=\\\"has-inline-color\\\">\u201cWhoever has ears to hear, let them hear.\u201d<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables.\u00a0<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>He told them,\u00a0<mark style=\\\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\\\" class=\\\"has-inline-color\\\">\u201cThe secret of the kingdom of God\u00a0has been given to you. But to those on the outside\u00a0everything is said in parables\u00a0<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>so that,<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><mark style=\\\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\\\" class=\\\"has-inline-color\\\">\u201c\u2018they may be ever seeing but never perceiving,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and ever hearing but never understanding;<br>otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!\u2019\u201d<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus said to them,\u00a0<mark style=\\\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\\\" class=\\\"has-inline-color\\\">\u201cDon\u2019t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable?\u00a0<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>The farmer sows the word.\u00a0<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan\u00a0comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.\u00a0<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy.\u00a0<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word;\u00a0<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth\u00a0and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.\u00a0<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop\u2014some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.\u201d<\/mark><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>4\u00a0Again Jesus began to teach by the lake.\u00a0The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water\u2019s edge.\u00a02\u00a0He taught them many things by parables,\u00a0and in his teaching said:\u00a03\u00a0\u201cListen!
